Late 14th Century Shoulder Armour

Finished March 15, 2014

This shoulder armour is sized for someone between who's height is 5'10"/178cm to 6'4"/193cm and who's weight is 225lbs./102kg to 260lbs./118Kg.
The lames are made from 0.032"/21ga/0.8mm 4130 steel and the shoulder cop is made from 0.040"/19ga/1.0mm 4130 steel. The brass trim is 0.040"/1.0mm half hard 260 brass.
The plates were heat treated to a Rc48 hardness by heating them to 1650F/899C then quenching them in water followed by a 500F/260C 30 minute tempering step. From what I've seen the plates should resist denting as well as unhardened 304 stainless steel 2.8 times the thickness.
The plates have been blackening with Sculpt Nouveau Black Magic Patina.
